If you would like to enter your name in a drawing for a little woolfelt kit to make the "Pickled Pink Pincushion", just leave your name and tell me what your favorite pickle is in the comments section of this post.
My favorite is a recipe that my friend Deloras gave me years ago for Bread and Butter Refrigerator slices. Yum!

Hi Sandi - my favorite pickle is home canned garlic dill pickles. However, I am known to love all things pickles. One year at a craftshow, jars of pickles showed up in my booth every time I left (birthday joke) as I would always take anyone's pickles when we went out for supper. I also received from my "friends" a pickle ring, pickle earrings, and pickle ornament -the van was heavier with jars of pickles then when we came down with it full of oak:) Lovely blog: Dee, jessibir@hickorytech.net

Hi Sandi - My favorite pickles are home canned bread and butter pickles, using the recipe that my grandmother, mother and all of my sisters use. Thank you for the "back-story" about the pincushions as well as the tutorial. I plan to make a bunch of these, some with the pickle and some without. For the past 2 years my daughter and I have walked in the Breast Cancer 3-Day (walk 20 miles a day for 3 days held in Cleveland on the 3rd weekend of August)and we plan to walk again next year. We each must raise $2200to participate and that is always a challenge. This year we had a very successful quilt raffle and we plan to do so again, but we have some friends who want to help sew. I would like to give each of them a small token of appreciation, and this is perfect. Thanks!!

What a sweet pincusion! My favorite pickle is the Bread and Butter pickle. I used to love those sweet mini gherkins, but for some unknown reason, they taste really sour to me now!

Hi Sandi, My favorite pickle is the large dill pickles you could buy for 10 cents. So juicy. My neice was 24 when she passed away. At her funeral we brought jars of pickles (her favorite) I would love a pickle pin cushion in my sewing room to remember her everyday! Have a great retreat, my goal is to go to one soon, Sue from CA

My momma's dill pickles! Yum.

Have a little ditty for you to do with kiddos.

"Gimme Five" (slap five)
"On the Back Side" (slap hand on back side)
"Break a Pickle" (put pointer finger and thumb together, and interlock the finger/thumbs of both hands...kiddo tries to take apart the "pickle")
and then you say....

"Tickle, tickle, tickle!"

Kiddos love this!

So I've been thinking about it ever since I stopped by yesterday and read the post and I don't think I've ever had anything pickled ... well, pickles of course, but does that really count!?! How can I have lived in the south for 22-plus 8 years and never had a pickled something-or-other? Maybe I should remedy that ...
